Homework 19 – Unity3d setup and resources

Get set up with Unity3d. Install the free license by downloading a copy at: http://unity3d.com. Install the basic license.

One member of your team should be compiling the submitted assets from the other members. However, EVERYONE in the team needs to know the basics of Unity3d in order to test their exported models. Your team Unity3d person should not be given broken models.

In class today, I went over and handed out a sandbox Unity3d scene to play around with. You can modify the existing layout per what was discussed in class. If you are a Unity3d user already, feel free create your own.

For additional resources, reference these YouTube tutorial videos (plugin download link in the video description):

  • Terrain Toolkit (already installed in the sandbox): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnO9RtarzHE
  • Road/Path tool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAxo7g7sTgk
  • River tool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcg3VkcOdFc

By Wednesday or Friday this week, each team member should have 70% of their assigned objects modeled and textured; they should be ready to go for export (will go over exports on Wednesday). See you then!
